Step by step

Sewing instructions

Five stages, from the diagonal pockets to the zipper.

Pockets

7 steps
  1. 1

On the under front (2) on the right side along the pocket entrance allowance, topstitch the binding elastic lightly. We recommend stepping back 0.2 cm (1⁄16″) from the cut.

  2. 2

Place the pocket bag (7) face to face against the notches at the pocket entrance and stitch from notch to notch.

  3. 3

Fold the pocket bag to the right side and topstitch along the bag at 0.1 cm (1⁄16″) from the stitching seam. Iron press.

  4. 4

Place the under front with the pocket bag face to face on the front side (3) and stitch. Overcast the allowances. Iron press the seam and the pocket lining.

  5. 5

Stitch a fixing stitch along the diagonal seam, hitting the stitching line for the tape, without stitching along the lining.

  6. 6

Place the upper front (1) with the lower part, face to face, and stitch. Overcast the seam allowances and iron press them to the top.

  7. 7

Place the front on the back (4) face to face and stitch the shoulder seams. Iron press the seam allowances to the back.

Loop-keeper

3 steps
  1. 1

Prepare a loop-keeper (8). To do this, iron press the longitudinal allowances inward, fold along the folds and make a fixing stitch along the edge. Iron press.

  2. 2

Place one loop-keeper on the right side of the back to the notches and topstitch the ends.

  3. 3

Topstitch the two second loops to the right side to the notches on the sleeve pieces (5).

Sleeves

6 steps
  1. 1

Iron the binding elastic in half.

  2. 2

Wrap it around the sleeve bottom allowance (5) and topstitch through with a slight elastic tension. Important! If you find it difficult to hem the fur fabric, we recommend overcasting it, which will make the allowances thinner.

  3. 3

Place the sleeve cap to the armhole face to face and stitch. Overcast the allowances and iron press them onto the product.

  4. 4

Stitch the side seams the same time as the sleeve, folding the pieces with the right sides together. Overcast the allowances and iron press them onto the back.

  5. 5

Stitch the bottom of the jacket with the binding elastic iron pressed in half, stitching through. Adjust the elastic tension as desired: the tighter the tension, the tighter the bottom will fit to the figure.

  6. 6

Fasten the lower pocket allowance to the seam where the binding elastic is stitched. Align the pockets, pin and stitch into the seam.

Collar

2 steps
  1. 1

Place one of the collar pieces (6) with the bottom edge facing the neck of the jacket, and the second collar facing the wrong side. Sew so that the garment neck allowance is inside between the two collars.

  2. 2

Iron press the collars up and fasten at 0.5 cm (3⁄16″) along the fly line.

Zipper

3 steps
  1. 1

Stitch the iron pressed piping elastic in half onto the lap line and collar without tension, stitching through. Along the bottom of the lap, bend the allowance with the tip of the elastic. Iron press the lap line and the edge of the collar.

  2. 2

Pin the zipper evenly on both sides facing the wrong side of the jacket and stitch into the seam for attaching the piping elastic.

  3. 3

    Iron press the finished garment.

The jacket is ready!
