Description of tailoring
11 steps in four stages, from the back seam to the straps.
Back, gusset and crotch
3 steps- 1
Pin the Back parts together along the center with the right sides together and serge.
- 2
Serge the Gussets’ upper raw edge.
- 3
Pin the Back and Front together with the right sides along the crotch. Pin the Gusset right side to the Back wrong side. Serge it all together.
Leg holes and side seams
3 steps- 4
Fold and pin the Gusset to the Front. Pin the rubber elastic to wrong side of the leg-hole leaving 3 cm (1.2 in) of the elastic at the beginning so you can hold it. Sew in place using Zigzag stitch or you can simply serge it. Stretch a little bit during stitching.
- 5
Then fold the rubber elastic inward and pin. Sew in place using Zigzag stitch of width 4.
- 6
Pin the Front and Back along the side edge with the right sides together. Serge. Fix allowances at the leg-hole with zigzag stitch.
Neckline and back edge
2 steps- 7
Sew the rubber elastic to the neckline (use zigzag or serger). Then fold inward and top stitch with zigzag.
- 8
Sew the rubber elastic to the Back upper raw edge (use zigzag or serger). Then fold inward and top stitch with zigzag.
Straps
3 steps- 9
Pin the strap aligning the notches. Sew in place along the under-arm (use zigzag or serger). Then fold the straps allowances over the stitch and baste. Also fold the allowances inward all along the strap. Baste. Zigzag stitch.
- 10
Thread the strap’s end through the ring. Pin and stitch. REMEMBER to cross the straps.
- 11
Thread the strap through the slider, then thread through the ring and after this thread the strap through the middle of the slider. Secure the strap’s end with zigzag stitch.
