Sun-ready, zip-front swimwear

This swimsuit is built from raglan-sleeve front and back panels, a stand collar, and a front zip closure finished with a placket. A lined gusset and bound, elasticated leg openings complete the fit, with sleeve hems finished in a twin needle or zigzag stitch.

Sized from 3 to 10 years (98–140 cm height).

What you'll need

Suggested fabrics

Choose a biflex fabric or a light-weight cotton lycra jersey.

Also needed

  • Lining fabric for the gusset – 100% polyester
  • Latex elastic, 0.6 cm (0.24″) wide – 1 m (39.37″)
  • Zipper, 30 cm (11.8″) long – all sizes

Sew this pattern on a serger (overlock). No serger? A stretch or zigzag stitch on a regular machine works too. Baste pieces together before stitching to keep the top fabric from shifting.
