Vanilla women's dress pattern - sewing tutorial
PATTERN DESCRIPTION
The sundress has a semi-fitted silhouette, gathers at the waist, and has an invisible zipper in the middle back seam. The straps are tied with a bow. There is a decorative opening in the central part of the front bodice. The upper part of the sundress is lined with main fabric.
SUGGESTED MATERIALS
For sewing you can use: linen, cotton, muslin, poplin.

• Fusible stay tape for the zipper — 1.00 m (1 ⅛ yd);
• Bias cut fusible stay tape — 1.00 m (1 ⅛ yd);
• Invisible zipper — 40 cm (15 ¾’’);
• Interfacing — 15 cm (5 ⅞’’).

BODICE
1. Sew the central part of the front (1) with the front sides (2), placing the pieces right sides together. Press seam allowances towards the center.
2. Sew the front top (3) to these pieces along the upper cut, placing the pieces right side inside. Press seam allowances up.
3. Sew the back top (4) along the side seam, placing the pieces right side inside. Press allowances.
4. Sew the bodice lining in the same way: stitch the front center lining (6) with the front sides (2), stitch the front top lining (7) on it, then stitch the back lining (8).
5. Stitch the straps (5). Fold the strap piece right side inside and stitch one short section and the longest one. Cut out the corners, turn them inside out and press the straps.
6. Stitch the straps along the notches to the upper cut along the front and back.
7. Stitch the top edge of the bodice, placing the bodice pieces and bodice lining right sides inside.
8. Topstitch along the lining at 0.1 cm (1/16’’) from the stitching seam. Press the seam to form an edging.
9. Turn the bodice inside out and stitch a decorative hole along the center front piece. Cut the curves and turn them onto the face. Press.
10. Stitch additionally along the bottom of the bodice.
WAISTBAND
1. Sew the pieces of the front waistband (9) and back (10) with interfaced areas along the side seams, placing the pieces right sides together. Sew the waistband pieces without interfaced areas along the side seam. Press allowances.
2. Place the interfaced waistband on the front side of the bodice and stitch along the waist edge.
3. Place the second non-interfaced waistband with the right side to the wrong side of the bodice and make a stitch in the same seam.
4. Bend the waistbands over to the front side and press.
5. Sew the bottom edge of the waistband together.
SKIRT PREPARATION
1. Assemble the upper section of the front skirt (11).
2. Assemble the upper sections of the back skirt (12).
3. Stitch the side sections of the front and back skirt. Overlock seam allowances and press to the back.
4. Sew the top edge of the bodice and skirt. Overlock seam allowances and press onto the skirt.
5. Overlock the center back seam. Stitch it from the notch at the end of the zipper to the bottom. Press allowances.
ZIPPER
1. Unzip the zipper and stitch it first to one side of the sundress. Zip it and transfer the control marks to the second side.
2. Unzip and stitch to the other side of the sundress.
3. Pin the bottom tip of the zipper to the middle seam allowance. Secure the upper ends of the zipper so that they do not stick out. Press.
4. Overlock the bottom of the sundress, press along the notches on the wrong side and top stitch.
5. Give the sundress a final press.
