The Florence

a square-neck button-front sundress

What you'll need

The Florence is forgiving with fabric. Pick something with a little body for the bodice and an easy drape for the gathered skirt.

i.

Natural fabrics

Cotton, satin, denim, jacquard — great structure and a clean finish.

ii.

Blended fabrics

With added synthetic or artificial fibres, e.g. cotton with polyester.

iii.

Synthetic fabrics

Polyester, or polyester + elastane for a touch of stretch.

Mind the shrinkage. Fabric can shrink after the first wash — buy with a 5–10% margin, and pre-wash before cutting.
