Rosalia long basque belt pattern - sewing tutorial
PATTERN DESCRIPTION
Asymmetrical Basque belt with patch pocket and flap. It fastens with a bow tie.
SUGGESTED MATERIALS
We recommend choosing denim and cotton.

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Sew the waist darts on the front (1) and back halves (2) of the belt. Stitch from the notches to the base of the corner. Press the darts towards the center.
2. Sew along the top and bottom edges of the pocket fold (3) to the mark on the patterns.
3. Press the folds towards the center.
4. Overlock or zigzag the bottom edge of the pocket facing (4).
5. Stitch the facing to the top edge of the pocket, placing the pieces right sides together.
6. Topstitch along the facing.
7. Stitch the side edges of the facing and pocket. Cut out corners and flip onto the right side. Press the side pocket allowances and the bottom seam allowance at the same time.
8. Stitch the flap side allowances. Cut out corners and flip onto the right side. Topstitch along the edge.
9. Mark the location of the pocket on the front part (1). Pin and stitch along the side and bottom edges.
10. Place the flap right side to the right side of the front and stitch the flap to the width of the foot above the pocket. Fold the flap down and topstitch at 0.5 cm (3/16’’) from the stitching seam. Press.
ASSEMBLING
11. Stitch the side seams of the front and back halves. Overlock or zigzag the seam and press it to the back.
12. Stitch the side seam of the front (6) and back (7) facings. Press the allowances.
13. Overlock or zigzag the inner facing allowance.
14. Place the facing on the Basque belt right sides together, pin and stitch at 0.7 cm (1/4’’) from the edge.
15. Cut out the allowances on the curve areas. Flip it onto the right side and press it.
16. Topstitch along the edge.
BELT
17. Sew the front (8) and back (9) halves of the belt along the side seam. Press the allowances.
18. Then press the belt in half lengthwise and stitch the corners.
19. Press the lower section of the belt at 1 cm (3/8’’) along the entire length, the upper section –
up to the notches for stitching.
20. Place the belt on the top edge of the Basque part right sides together and stitch. Press the
seam allowances onto the belt.
21. Topstitch around the belt. Press.
22. Give the belt a final press.
