A relaxed T-shirt dress with a curved hi-lo hem, short set-in sleeves, and two curved patch pockets at the front, finished with a self-fabric neckband.
This dress comes together from a front and back panel joined at the shoulders and sides, with short sleeves serged into the armholes and two curved patch pockets set into the front. A self-fabric neckband finishes the neckline, and the curved hem is longer at the back than the front.
The hem and sleeve cuffs can be finished with a twin needle or any decorative stitch you like.
Choose a fabric with a low elastane content — a soft jersey knit or interlock works well.

Pin the back and front panels along the shoulder edges, right sides together. You can strengthen the shoulder edges with fusible interfacing tape, used on the wrong side. Serge the edges. Press allowances to the back.
Pin the pocket pieces to the front panel, right sides together, aligning the notches. Sew in place from notch to notch on the sewing machine using a straight stitch, leaving 0.7 cm (0.27″) allowances. Clip seam allowances at the notches. Turn the pieces right side out and press. Understitch allowances to the pocket piece. Press.
Pin the second pocket piece to the sewn pocket piece, right sides together. Align the notches. Serge the pocket pieces together along the curved edge. Press.
Baste the pocket pieces to the front along the pocket entrance.
Pin the sleeve into the open armhole, right sides together, aligning the notches. Serge in. Press seam allowances to the sleeve.
Fold the sleeve in half, right side in, and pin. Also pin the front and back along the side, right sides together. Press the sleeve allowances to the sides to reduce bulk. Align the pocket notches. Serge it all together. Carefully stitch along the pocket entrance. Press.
Pin the neckband together along the short edge, right side in. Stitch it. Press seam allowances open. Fold the neckband in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Press.
Pin the neckband into the garment's neckline. Divide the neckband and neckline into 4 equal parts (lay the neckband out, notch it at the halfway points, then match the notches and mark the remaining parts). Serge in the neckband, stretching it slightly. Press seam allowances toward the neckline.
To make it more professional, topstitch the seam allowances.
Fold the sleeve hem about 1.5 cm to the wrong side and pin. Stitch it using a twin needle or any decorative stitch you like.
The bottom hem can be finished with a decorative stitch alone, without folding it.
