Iron the interfacing to the wrong side of the front facing, the welt, and the front bodice where the pocket opening will be. Fold the welt in half with wrong sides together and press.
Mark the line of the allowances on the welt and the pocket opening placement on the front panel. Also mark the allowances on the pocket pieces.
Pin the welt to the pocket opening line with the raw edge to the side and sew in place.
Pin the inner pocket piece, right side to the pocket opening line, and sew in place. Pin the outer pocket piece, right side on top of the welt, and sew in place. Check that the two stitching lines are parallel.
Slash the pocket opening by cutting along the middle, then clip diagonally to the corners.
Turn the pocket pieces and welt to the wrong side and stitch the triangles together with the welt allowances.
Topstitch the pocket opening, moving the pocket pieces aside so you don't catch them. Serge the pocket pieces together and press.
Pin the back and front panels together, right sides together, along the shoulder edge. Stitch and press the allowances open.
Pin the back and front side edges together, right sides together, and stitch. Press the allowances toward the back.
Fold the sleeve in half, right sides together, and stitch. Press.
Pin the sleeve into the armhole, right sides together, matching the notches. Sew in place, press the allowances toward the sleeve, and clip the curves.
Pin the front facing to the front bodice, right sides together, matching the notches. Stitch and press the allowances toward the front bodice.
Pin the neckline facing to the lining back, right sides together, matching the notches. Sew in place and press the allowances toward the back.
Pin the front and back lining together, right sides together, along the shoulder edges. Press the allowances toward the back.
Pin the side edges of the back and front lining together, right sides together, and stitch. Press the allowances toward the back.
Fold the sleeve in half and stitch, leaving a hole in one sleeve for turning the garment right side out later.
Insert the sleeve into the armhole, matching the notches, and sew in place. Press the allowances toward the sleeve.
Make a hanger: cut a rectangle from the main fabric, fold the edges to the center, fold the strip in half, and stitch. Pin and stitch the hanger to the lining.
Pin the garment and the lining together, right sides together, along the hem.
Pin the coat and lining together along the neckline, then pin the fronts, matching the notches. Fold the hem of the garment to make the hem facing, then stitch. Clip the corners and curves.
Pin the sleeves of the garment and the lining together, right sides together — check that the seams aren't twisted — and stitch.
Fix the hem of the coat — stitch it straight on the machine, following the seam, or use a hand catch stitch.
Baste the shoulder allowances of the lining to the garment, and do the same at the side seams.
