Sewing Tutorial

Fabric recommendations

For sewing this dress we recommend using:
Bodice – festive dress fabrics, satin (matt, Russian or American satin)
Lining – natural fabrics (cotton, viscose)
Underskirt – we recommend using thin fabrics that drape well. You can use the same
fabric as the fab-ric for the bodice of the dress. If the bodice is made of a denser
fabric (for example, dupont satin), use another, thinner fabric (polyester, artificial silk
or dense viscose).
Upper skirt and “wings” – euro-tulle or other soft tulle.
The sleeves – wings can be decorated with feathers on the ribbon.

Tulle pieces assembly

Be sure to mark notches on the tulle, preferably with a colored thread.

Stitch (with a maximum stitch length) 0.5
cm / 0.20 in from the edge on all layers of
tulle of the skirt and sleeves. Leave the
long ends of the thread so that you can
easily pleat the layers of tulle to the
desired length.

Pleat the tulle to the desired length. It’s
best to mark the layers to avoid
confusion.

Baste all the layers of tulle.

Align the upper edges and collect the
layers of tulle together. It is convenient to
assemble them on a dummy. If you don’t
have a dummy, collect the layers on the
table or on the floor, aligning the notches.
Pin each subsequent layer together with
the previous ones.

Make a cut for the zipper (don’t attach it to the zipper) and stitch 0.1 сm / 0.04
in from the edge. Thus, the layers will not delaminate.

1.Pleat the sleeves-wings to the
required length and baste.
Overlock stitch.

2.Pin feathers to the braid and
baste them.

Similarly, stitch the pieces of the lining.

Pin together the right sides of the front
and the back along the shoulder edges.
Baste and iron the stitches open.

Pin together the right sides of the bodice and the lining along the neckline,
adjusting the notches. Stitch. Iron. Incise the allowances at rounding points. Fix
the allowances to the lining with the fin-ishing line. Iron the allowances after folding
them towards the lining.

Pin the right sides of the bodice and the lining along the armhole line. Stitch.
Incise the allowances, turn the product out to the right side and fix the
allowances on the lining with a stitch 0.2 cm / 0.08 in from the seam. Iron.

Pleat the tulle belt several times
and pin the belt to the front
piece along the notches

Pin the right sides of the bodice and
the lining pieces along the side seam.
Stitch. Remove the thickness from the
allowances on the fold. Overlock the
allowances. Incise the allowances on
the seam along the armhole line, lay
them open, align the wrong sides of
the bodice and the lining and iron
along the armhole line.

Lining fabric skirt assembly

Pin the right sides of the front and back pieces of the skirt from the lining fabric.
Stitch and overlock the allowances. Iron.

Pin together the right sides of
the lining fabric top with the
lining fabric skirt. Stitch.
Overlock the allowances. Iron
the allowances down.

Overlock the side edges. Iron.
Pleat the skirt to a certain
length.

Pin the right sides of the tulle
skirt to the bodice of the dress,
retreating 1.5 cm / 0.59 in from
the edge.

Pin the skirt on top of the tulle skirt,(adjusting the edges with the underskirt).
Stitch. Trim the allowances of the tulle skirt. Iron and then iron down.

Zipper

Pin the zipper to the right side of the bodice and the skirt. Stitch.

Pin the right side of the lining on
top of the zipper. Stitch. Iron the
seam.

Move the check marks to the
other side of the bodice. Pin the
second part of the zipper.
Stitch. On top of the zipper,
stitch the lining. Iron.

Pin the front sides of the skirt
along the side edges, stitch
from the zipper to the bottom.
Iron the seam open.

Similarly, stitch the side edges of the skirt from the lining fabric.

Fold and stitch the bottom of the
skirt and skirt from the lining
fabric. Iron.

Pin the sleeves-wings to the
armhole on the lining side.
